By definition, data centres, which represent an intense concentration of computing power in one place will always be consumers of large amounts of power. They can, when properly designed and managed, achieve major tangible savings which are as beneficial to the environment as they are to your wallet. In planning our data centres and in the way that we run them, Cantono has gone to great lengths to achieve greenness.

• The Modular architecture, designed and produced by IBM, allows us to control the cooling processes (which typically consume almost as much power as the servers themselves) much more efficiently than with a “traditional” data-centre design, resulting in savings of the order of 30%.
• The data centre deploys state-of-the-art UPS systems to maximise efficiency while minimising environmental impact.
• As an optional service, we will carry out an audit of the servers and equipment that you wish to run in our data centre, which will, amongst other things, identify equipment which is under utilised all or part of the time, and which may be consuming unnecessary energy. These can then be consolidated onto fewer systems. That way, you reduce maintenance costs and power consumption, and help to save the environment.
