Cantono's newest data centres have been designed and rolled out in partnership with IBM, using IBM's modular design. The data centre houses a number of self-contained pods, each one of which comprises a modular data centre. This design maximises flexibility, and provides clients with the opportunity to create their own "data-centre within a data-centre" to match their exact requirements.
More specifically, the IBM module carries numerous advantages:
- A standardised environment, based on the Integrated Rack Solution, with built-in server racks, network points, power and cooling. This contributes towards a reduction in the cost of implementation and support, and can also cut implementation times
- Cold-aisle containment which separates cool air from warmer air exiting the server area, resulting both financial savings and environmental benefits
- The ability to enhance security, in terms of controlling access to the module
- The potential to upgrade the level of fire-resistance
- The manufacturing process means that it is possible to discuss further potential levels of customisation
